Racing.

The best place to see the action is from the deck of a smack.

 

Sailing barge matches are now a permanent feature on the East coast - each held at a different location with up to eighteen barges and 20 smacks at the start line. Many of these barge matches are combined with smack races and Saxonia regularly takes part or follows the fleet.  The  Blackwater, Pin Mill, Southend and Colne barge matches are usually on our sailing programme.
